7. Do I need to install a driver for the SmartLock hardware lock?
No, the SmartLock device is completely compliant to the USB 1.1 technical standard. Since Microsoft Windows has a built-in USB 1.1 standard driver, an additional driver for SmartLock is not required.
However, on some Windows XP systems there may be a dongle recognition problem. This is due to a Windows problem when USB 2.0 is used with HID 1.1. To resolve this issue it is necessary to install the service pack SP2 for Windows XP.
If you are running Windows 98, then it may be necessary to install the Windows HID driver. To do this, download the following driver files and when you connect your dongle, point Windows at the downloaded files so that the HID driver is installed:
